Nick is an Oxford law graduate and has been a corporate/commercial lawyer in the UK for 20 years, 12 of them as partner in law firms in the City of London.  Nick now works as a freelance consultant lawyer on UK and international projects, mainly in the telecom sector.   

Nick spent his early years as a corporate lawyer working in UK venture capital and M&A.  He also spent two years doing finance law work in the Middle East.  Since 1991, he has been specialising in privatisation and investment project work in the emerging markets of Eastern Europe and Africa.  In that time he worked on over 40 projects, with 11 successful privatisation transactions completed, mostly as principal legal adviser to government ministries or agencies.

Nick has extensive experience in the telecom sector, both transactional and regulatory.  He advised several major telcos (fixed and mobile) on their investment and acquisition projects in emerging markets, and completed several assignments funded by EBRD advising governments on restructuring and legislative reform of state-owned telecom sectors in various countries.  Telecom laws drafted by him are currently in force in 3 European countries.

In his spare time, Nick is also Chair of MUST – the independent Manchester United supporters trust, whose long term goal is supporter ownership of the club.  Despite recent events, Nick believes that this is the only long-term solution to the sport’s many problems.
